Bay Area Pau Hana
Q & A

Q:    Why am I on the "Pau Hana" list?
A:    A friend of yours added your name to the list.  I started with about 30 names on the original Evite.  Those 30 people then added other names.  Somewhere along the line someone thought you would be interested and added your name.  Chris has pointed out that this is like "viral marketing" (what an internet geek) - and the product we are marketing is fellowship.

Q:    What is the purpose of the Pau Hana get togethers?
A:    Keep in contact with old friends and meet new ones.  Relax and Network!

Q:    Can I invite friends or co-workers to the Pau Hana?
A:    Just as most of you were added to the list, you may add anyone who is friendly to the list, or just bring them along.  Although right now the most common thread we (on the list) share is that we are from Hawaii or know someone from Hawaii, if is not meant to be exclusive to Hawaii transplants.

I've heard several comments that "people from other areas of the country don't get together just because of where they are from".  Doesn't that say a lot about the Aloha Spirit?

Q:    I don't know anyone who is attending. Should I show up?
A:    Yes.  I can certify that we have a bunch of friendly, talkative people.  To make it easier to identify who we are, we'll have a balloon or some other marker in the area.

Q:    I live in San Francisco.   Why don't you have a Pau Hana up in the City?
May Pau Hana in San Francisco as requested.
A:    There have been several requests/comments about this - so  we will have one in San Francisco "soon".  I'm looking for someone who can help figure out where and when.  Probably on a Saturday, and preferably coinciding with some type of event to draw people up north.  Please send me a note if you have any suggestions.

Q:    How often do you have Pau Hana get togethers?
A:    So far they have been monthly, but there really is no set timing.

Q:    Always of Fridays?
May Pau Hana is Saturday.
A:    So far, yes.  But if another day is better, provide feedback on the Evite and we'll mix it around.

Q:    How do you pick the location?
A:    Since we originally conceived this as a way for people who live and work in the South Bay to get together, the locations have rotated in Mountain View, Palo Alto and San Jose.  The actual establishment typically has a bar area and a restaurant to accommodate those who want to just mix and those who want to sit and eat.  I'm looking for volunteers to pick the place and send the Evite out...Thanks to Adrienne for April and Chris for May

Q:    Do I have to RSVP?
A:    The Evite is really more like a flyer, so even if you don't RSVP you can show up.  However, if you are inclined to come, please check the "yes" button and make a comment if you can, so that everyone has a feel for who will be there.  There is no obligation to show if a conflict comes up.

Q:    Is there a cost?  What do I bring?
A:    This is for fun and non commercial.  There is no cost, except for what you eat and drink, which you pay for yourself.  If you want, you can bring a balloon, just in case I forget to bring one.

Q:    How do I take myself off the list?
A:    Follow the link to the Evite, then choose the "remove my name from the list" option at the bottom of the page.
